A Portable Trade Show Exhibit Makes for an Easier Show

By: Rena Klingenberg

You can make your trade show experience much easier by using a portable exhibit. Since you control everything related to transporting it and setting it up, you won't have to hire firms to for those things for you.

In contrast, a large exhibit requires you to rely on others to ship it and set it up - during which any number of problems can arise. For example, your exhibit could arrive late at the trade show, or not arrive at all.

But by transporting your portable trade show exhibit yourself, you avoid the need to deal with a freight company and keep track of bills of lading so you can trace your shipment or make a loss claim on a missing display.

Instead, you can simply bring your portable trade show exhibit right along with you, knowing where it is at all times, and bring it into the expo hall yourself when you arrive.

Your portable trade show booth is also safer from damage than larger displays, which may be punctured, scratched, or torn by machinery during transport and drayage. And although your booth repair kit may enable you to fix up minor scratches and dents yourself, how can you repair a forklift puncture hole in your display? Having portable displays that you can bring by yourself alleviates the possibility of this type of expo disaster.

Another advantage of a portable booth is that you can set it up by yourself fairly easily - which eliminates the potential headache of having a hired crew set up your display. A large display would require you to direct each crew member's part in setting it up and taking it down.

But your portable trade show exhibit can be put up by you alone, or by you with one assistant. Portable booth setup is quick and easy, and you can handle the whole procedure yourself. And taking down your booth after the expo is just as efficient when you're operating alone or with just one other person.

Although standard booths are beneficial in many ways, they don't necessarily bring any better trade show results than portable booths. And as far as preventing booth transportation and setup nightmares, nothing can beat a portable trade show exhibit. Rena Klingenberg shares trade show success secrets in her website, http://www.trade-show-booth-display.com , where you can find further tips on portable displays at http://www.trade-show-booth-display.com/portable-trade-show-display.html .

18 Caveats on How Not to Change

By: David Krueger MD

Change is not simple. Why do we repeat behavior that doesn't work? Especially those actions that lead to stifling debt, disappointing careers, or stuck relationships? Then do it harder, yet expect a different result? Why is it not obvious that trying to exit an old story by simply writing a “better ending” only recreates the same story, and ensures that we remain in it? That a thousand better endings to an old story don’t create a new story? That the past cannot be changed and is a settled matter? That too often, we see ourselves as the victims of the stories that we author and the feelings we create?
18 Caveats on avoiding change:
1. Focus on the system. Devote special attention to the things that seem frustrating, out of your control, and impossible to address: politics, corporations, and economics. Systems must remain in focus as broad categories in order to feel distanced and disaffected.
2. Maintain a focus on theory. Avoid detail, singular aspects, and application. Remain theoretical about how to transform various systems, about what needs to be done, maintaining the frustration of what seems to continue out of your control.
3. Believe that the answer will appear when you step out of the box, or when you simply oppose the system.
4. Keep the point of reference external; keep believing that the antithesis of conformity is opposition; know that one or the other of these external points of reference of conformity or opposition holds the real truth.
5. Do not decide. Allow the urgency of a situation to decide for you. The gravity of a last-minute emergency forces action and avoids planning. Waiting for the deadline excuses responsibility for thoroughness and excellence.
6. Believe that the answer is more rules and further structure.
7. Debate the obvious, and give energy to the controversial.
8. Believe in experts unequivocally, and that expertise is authoritative. Dismiss any notion that expertise is perceived, processed, and filtered through assumptions, belief systems, and prejudices of experts.
9. Do not seek your own information or develop your own solutions when you have experts to listen to. Rather, find someone to provide a map for you and avoid anyone who wants to help you develop your own guidance system to navigate.
10. Always find some cause and effect relationship to explain things otherwise not understandable. Maintain a consistent external focus to blame someone, or find some tangible explanation that offers a specific, concrete focus on what is wrong. Warning: much work is required to maintain this caveat, as you must be certain that the obstacle can never be totally removed, or its causal effect would have to be confronted as inaccurate. The perceived cause must always be just beyond reach and remedy in order to remain as blame.
11. Keep doing the same thing and expect a different outcome. If the outcome doesn’t change for the better, do the same thing harder.
12. Be suspicious of new ideas.
13. New ideas, being perturbators of the existing system, must be curbed if not silenced.
14. Meticulously guard against mistakes; the best way to be sure to avoid mistakes is to keep doing the same thing again and again with perfection as the goal.
15. Maintain a focus on failure, giving it the proper respect of fear so that it remains ever in focus with its guiding principle of avoidance.
16. Be extremely wary of new strategies and solutions, and invest instead in enforcement of the existing approach.
17. When you make mistakes, focus on the mistakes and attempt to get them right.
18. Continue to hold prejudices because they are markers of emotional landmines.

How to choose a theme for your home parties business

By: Stephanie Foster

Home parties are a vital part of many network marketing businesses, but sometimes it’s hard to come up with a good theme to really get your customers interested. Here are some tips to get you thinking of new themes:

1. What events or holidays are coming up?
This could be back-to-school, Fourth of July, Super Bowl, baby showers, any event. Think of how your products tie into this event, and use that knowledge to sell, sell, sell.
2. Solve a problem
How do people use your products? What problems do they solve? Do they keep people organized? Make cooking more fun? Decorate the house? Use your knowledge of your products to motivate your customers.
3. Men/Women only parties
This is great if they aren’t your usual customers. Think of ways to help the men or women learn to use your products or buy as gifts.
4. Clearance sale!
Focus on your company’s clearance or discount price items. Who doesn’t love a sale?
5. Charity
Offer a percentage of sales to a charity and encourage your guests to give or buy products for the charity.
6. Time savers
This is really a part of the problem solver party, but worth mentioning on its own. If your product can help people save time, why not demonstrate that?
7. Party at a business
Check with local businesses that your clients tend to be at and see if they will let you do a party. Your workplace probably will not, but what about gyms?
8. Team up
Know other consultants for other network marketing companies? Coordinate a party with them. Give your guests even more products to buy, and show how they work together.

Hopefully, these tips will give you many options for your home parties. Themes can encourage people to buy, so make sure you plan thoroughly. Above all else, have fun!

GPS Cell Phone

By: Roberto Sedycias

The Global Positioning System (GPS) was funded, developed and controlled by the US Department of Defense. Since the late seventies, GPS has become an important aid to navigation around the world. Initially designed for the US military, GPS became publicly available years later and it is now considered an important feature in lots of consumer products.

How does GPS work? Well, basically there are three elements that make everything work: satellites, earth monitoring stations and receivers (ex: cell phone, telefone celular). GPS provides specially coded satellite signals that can be processed in a GPS receiver, enabling the receiver to compute position, velocity and time.

Today, most cell phones (telefone celular) are not limited to carry on just a conversation. Features like mp3 player, digital camera and video camera have all become standards in the latest cell phone models. It is expected that the GPS feature will soon be added to this list, and it will offer the capability of tracking any cell phone user.

The capability of tracking a cell phone user becomes important in emergency situations, like a car accident, thru the use of 911 emergency phone call, where every minute may be a matter of life or death. In situation like this, the GPS system may pinpoint the exact location of the road accident, enabling emergency services to be quickly dispatched.

It is important to mention that so far most GPS system in cell phone (telefone celular) is restricted to tracking information only. However, one can have navigational capability thru the use of full screen cell phone/PDA combos with map displays and other cellular phone accessories, and third party paid services. If one does not want to sign up for a monthly paid subscription service, he can make use of one-time-paid-only software programs that will enable some of the navigational capabilities.

Although there are many benefits in using GPS cell phones (telefone celular), there are some people who are concerned about the violation of personal privacy. Since the US Congress has not authorized location tracking without actual evidence of wrongdoing, there have been court hearings which have not approved the requests of government agencies in obtaining the cell phone GPS tracking information for suspects or ordinary citizens.

This privacy matter has made some progress towards the cell phone user`s rights, since there are some laws that have been passed which guarantees that GPS cell phone users will have some protection from the release of the tracking information, with the exception of 911 emergency cell phone calls (telefone celular). It is expected that these laws will guarantee that the benefits of GPS in cell phones will be enjoyed by everyone without infringing anybody`s privacy.

Sometimes when there is a technological innovation, there are also some concerns about privacy or some rights infringements. But no matter how much of a concern this is, it seems that a compromise will always have to be reached, so that new technologies will take their places in everyone`s lives. After all, we all live in a globalized consumer world. By the way, have you already got your GPS cell phone?

How Much I Love You: A Reply

By: Alnel Flores

Yes, I love her, I admit
But you don’t know how it feels
That I love her
When my heart is bound for you

I feel what you feel right now
Your mourn, your sorrow; It hurts me
I know you love me but I can’t give you back
And it’s late to wish your mine

But if only time will allow
I’ll change the decisions I’ve made
And I want to tell you
I love you with all my heart and soul also

To love you when I love someone is hard
The way you thought it would
You wait, but I can’t promise I’ll come back
To be with you and say how much I love you.

7 Keys to Writing a Children's Book that Sells Like Hotcake

By: Caterina Christakos

There are seven fundamental reasons that some books succeed and others collect dust on the author's bookshelf. These seven keys to success as an author are simple, obvious even, and yet in the midst of our writing many of us forget them.

We get so focused on the idea of the book that we forget the mechanics. Here is the strategy that award winning authors use:

1) Create a hero that your audience can relate to.

Examine your target market honestly. Who will be reading your book? Just because you think that your main character is funny, charming and brilliant doesn't mean that they will or even that that is what they care about.

2) Write for your audience, not your highschool English professor. There has already been a Shakespeare. Most genres do not require you to write like him. You will just turn your audience off if you write at a level beyond their comprehension.

3) Give your reader a problem that he or she can empathize with.

Ex. Are you writing for teenage girls? Then something to do with the pains of adolescent romance, or lack thereof, might be a good start.

4) Provide a nemesis that makes sense. The antagonist in your story should appear to be everything that your main character is not. Then go back in and give him or her some good qualities as well.

People are not good or evil. Your characters should have the same character traits, as the rest of humanity.

Ex. A Thief with a Conscience or who hates everyone except his little sister, who he has taken care of since their mom died.

Give all your characters depth.

5) Provide obstacles for your main characters. Both your hero and antagonist need to have a few bumps in the road. Life isn't smooth. Let them both screw up and figure their way out of their messes.

6) Your hero, at the very least, must learn a lesson about himself or herself. Is he braver than he thought he was? Is her nerdiness actually an asset?

Your characters should have some type of self-realization. It can be subtle. You do not have to go into a five chapter monologue on it, just give the readers some clues that he or she has changed.

7) Begin and end your story with a bang. Grab your reader's attention in the beginning and have them hoping for a sequel in the end. The rest, no matter how much work you put into it, will probably be skimmed until they hit the next seat gripping scene. Your job is to make that skim time as short as possible.

How To Stop Your Dog From Digging Holes In Your Garden

By: Adam G. Katz

First, I need to figure out when he is digging. Since I know the dog and his lifestyle, I can rule out several factors such as boredom or puppyhood or gophers, etc...
I noticed that every time he would start digging holes he was in the yard playing with a friend's dog, unsupervised.
So, I first need to MAKE SURE that it was ACTUALLY MY DOG that was the perpetrator. A quick look at his feet would suggest that it was.
Next, I needed to figure out if he would dig ANY TIME he was left alone in the yard or if it was only when another dog was present.
To figure this out, I simply left the dog in the yard alone with access to the rose garden several times... and came back to find that he had not dug.
So... it stands to reason that the only time my dog is digging in the yard is when there is another dog in the yard. (Who knows why? There could be a million unexplained reasons that only the dog knows. All I need in order to fix the behavior is knowledge of the dog and the circumstances).
Now, I know that to fix any behavior problem I need to make the dog experience a NEGATIVE ASSOCIATION with the actual ACT of doing that behavior. In this case, digging in the garden.
And he needs to experience that same negative association EVERY TIME HE DIGS!
In this case, I must be 100% diligent to never leave Forbes unsupervised in the yard when there is another dog in the yard.
Of course, if he was digging by himself, then I'd need to confine him to a kennel run where he cannot dig when I'm not supervising him. Or if there is another dog visiting then I will need to bring Forbes inside, put him in the kennel run, or use the presence of the other dog as a "set up."
The next step is to make sure that he associates that negative (correction) just as he starts to dig.
There are two ways I can do this: The Lazy Man's Way and the Old Fashioned Way. Both methods are based on the same principle.
The Old Fashioned Way to make sure that the dog gets a motivational negative association when he digs is to:
Step 1.) Leave a pinch collar and tab (one foot leash) on the dog when he's outside in the yard with another dog.
Step 2.) Bury hardware mesh or chicken wire in the spot where he's been digging. The chicken wire should be buried two to three inches below the surface. Dogs don't like scraping their paws against this stuff. So, right off the bat you've got an immediate negative association.
Step 3.) Spy on him and just wait until he start to dig.
Step 4.) As soon as he begins to dig, yell "No No No!" as you run outside and give the dog a correction. As long as you continue to say "No no no" as you run to the dog, the dog WILL still associate the correction with the behavior.
Step 5.) Be 100% consistent until you are 100% sure that the dog isn't digging any more.
The Lazy Man's Way to fix this problem behavior is to use a remote electronic collar (e-collar). Everything else remains the same. (Click on the link above to read about my recommendations for buying a remote electronic training collar).
When using the e-collar for this behavior, I'd turn the setting up to the high level. Your goal is to create absolute avoidance to this behavior (digging in the garden). And you want him to think that the dirt just jumped up and bit him! Usually if you correct the dog with the electronic collar for this type of behavior, you've only got to do it twice before the dog decides that it's in his best interest to leave your garden alone.

How Can I Balance Work & Play?

By: Joel Garfinkle

You have mental, emotional, spiritual and physical needs. How well are you balancing your roles and your needs?
Recently Janet, a 37 year old client of mine who currently works in consulting asked me:

"Joel, I often find myself lacking balance in my life. I have so much work to do that I don't have time for myself and my family. I'd love to just quit my job and move to an island where I have unlimited time to do whatever I want but that's just not going to happen. How can I have time to get my work done and still have time to play?"

I responded to her:

Your life and work are an integral whole. You are more than just someone who works. You have many roles in your life: you're a friend, family member, community member, significant other, parent and more. You have mental, emotional, spiritual and physical needs. How well are you balancing your roles and your needs?

Take time to honor your needs, create calmness in your day and renew your spirit. You will find that focusing on cultivating more balance in your life can help your work life improve. You will be more relaxed, better able to focus and better able to produce high quality work. Coming from a strong personal foundation will increase your professional abilities and improve your view of your work.

Begin by considering your personal and professional roles and how much time you spend each week on each role. Examples of personal roles are: mother, father, sister, brother, best friend, confidant, daughter, son, mentor. Examples of professional roles are: employee, manager, mentor, team member, leader, specific job title. List each role in your life and for one week, carry around a small notepad and make note of how much time you spend on each role.

Next, review your needs in each area: mental , physical, emotional and spiritual.

Examples of mental needs: intellectual stimulation, diversity of thought, learning.

Examples of physical needs: food, shelter, water, Exercise.

Examples of emotional needs: love, belonging, security.

Examples of spiritual needs: meditation, religious/spiritual practice on a regular basis, rituals.

Consider how much time you spend in each area and note which areas you'd like to spend more time on.

Next, look at how you can make room in your life to take the time to focus on the needs that have been neglected and the roles you want to spend more time on. What extraneous tasks can be eliminated from your life or delegated to someone else? Schedule time for yourself and treat it like any other appointment.

How I Use Email Automatic Responders

By: Jeff Schuman

An email automatic responder or autoresponder is the second most important marketing tool I have to make money online. The first would be my hosting company. Without these 2 tools my internet marketing business is dead in the water.

In the world of internet marketing, millions of sites are fiercely competing with each other to gain new clients. For any ecommerce site to succeed, it must capture the interest and the trust of its visitors. It is not enough that your site is perfectly designed or has the latest in animation of content.

You should focus your efforts not only in attracting visitors but also in leading them to make a purchase. There are dozens of marketing strategies you can use to attract more buyers and pump up your sales. One of them is by establishing an excellent and professional reputation for prompt and efficient response.

As more potential customers visit your site, you should expect a flood of inquiries and requests for information. This is an excellent opportunity for you to capture more clients and lead them to buying from your site. Thus, it is important that you carry out an efficient and prompt response to every email you receive. The fastest and most effective way to do this is by utilizing an email automatic responder.

Autoresponder services use a computer program that automatically return a prewritten message to anyone who sends an email to your site. It is widely used for responding to consumer inquiries and visitor comments and suggestions.

Follow up automatic responders are also used by e-zines in responding to people who subscribe or unsubscribe to their online magazines. Companies, who send out their e-newsletter regularly, also use utoresponders.

How can effective autoresponder services help boost your business? The answer lies in its ability to return a prompt response to any e-mail the site receives. By responding rapidly and efficiently, you create a very good impression on your potential customer. Good email autorespondrs help you get important information back to these customers immediately. An effective autoresponder service helps you communicate your message promptly, creating a sense of professionalism and efficiency that your clients will definitely appreciate.

Another very important advantage of email automatic responders is that it saves time with multiple marketing tasks. Certainly, you do not have enough time to personally make and send all correspondence. Autoresponder services allows you to send thank you letters, newsletters, product information, brochures, orders etc. to hundreds of clients almost immediately and simultaneously. Autoresponder services are also indispensable in any email marketing campaign.

Choosing the right autoresponder is very important. What makes the best automatic responder? First, you should pick an autoresponder that is reliable and can give you 24/7 service. You cannot afford to lose a customer because your autoresponder failed to answer his query or request for information. The ability to respond promptly is the first thing you must look for in any automatic responder.

Another key factor you should consider when choosing Autoresponder servcies is flexibility. Good autoresponders allow you to customize unique responses that will have maximum effect on the customer. You should avoid creating an impression that the customer is communicating with a machine instead of a real human being.

An excellent email automatic responder lets you provide the information that is specifically targeted for what the potential customers are looking for. Because any email from potential customers essentially represent the customer's intent on getting more information about your product, which can ultimately lead to direct sales, all emails are important. Thus, a top Autoresponder servcie must fulfill all these duties to help you boost your business.

For all of our autoresponder needs we prefer Aweber. They are very reasonably priced and have proved to be reliable and easy to use.

Spin Your Wheels To SUCCESS!

By Michael Nicholas

Have you ever gotten caught on a slippery road and felt the wheels under you spinning and going nowhere?

Well, you don't really need to be in a car to know what I'm talking about because this scene has been played out metaphorically many times as well.

It's the feeling of not getting to your destination and it's an unpleasant result... Spinning your wheels is being out of control and getting nowhere while trying to get somewhere.

And when you apply this to reaching success it's not only frustrating, but it can also crush your spirit to move on and upward.

But let me tell you a secret of success that is in every revolution of a spinning wheel. This is something that is difficult to see while you are trying to navigate toward success.

It's like a thick fog or night blindness and it wants to throw you off course so you lose your way. It's a false/positive state of mind that wants to lead you down the wrong road to failure where you may easily think it's time to give up. After all it's quite easy to stop the engine and park it...

BUT... wait a minute... What if all the while your wheels were turning you were moving toward success little by little and didn't realize it? What if you were moving in revolutions that didn't feel like you were moving at all but you really were?...

And what if you didn't stop your wheels from spinning BUT kept them going in that same very direction you set out on?... Well this is the road to success, my friend, and YOU are on it...

At first being on the road to success may feel like you are going nowhere... This is where the weak give up and move to something else many times repeating the scenario over and over never getting anywhere.

They just think they are spinning their wheels and give up way too early. But if you have a goal you want to accomplish... something you really feel strong and dedicated about - don't yield to the false/positive feelings of failure.

Why? Because the feelings of failure WILL come greet you... That you can be sure of. But pay no mind to failure because it's not a reality unless you accept it. Many times it's only the fear of failure - so just ignore it.

These feelings are just part of the journey leading to your success. However, if you keep on driving toward your goal without taking your eyes off of the road, but stay put even when things look, feel and taste like a losing battle... Your reward for riding through the storm is SUCCESS.

And yes it's been there the whole time... but this destination does not come easy to those that give up.

Remember this...

When it looks like nothing is happening... look again, give it time and even more time... Then when you have stayed the course your journey requires... that's when success is right around the corner.

Therefore, one of the real secrets of success is when it doesn't seem like success... it can still very much be you are on a successful journey leading right to it.

So don't cut yourself off and just spin your wheels... Spin Your Wheels To SUCCESS!

How To Select Keywords For Search Engine Optimization

By: Evelyn Lim

Selecting the correct keywords can make or break your website. Potential customers search the web for desired sites, and if your website doesn't have the keywords they're looking for, they'll miss you.

Determining keywords is an art; it's best to work backwards. What would a customer search for if they were looking for your site? You literally have to put yourself in the consumer's place and let go of your preconceived notions about what you think your keywords are. You should remember when writing your site that you need to use words that are not only related to your content, but are popular search words as well. This is called keyword optimization, or choosing the most searched keywords related to your content.

Spend some time listing all of the words and phrases that are related to your website content. Get ideas from everyone you can think of and list them all. Visit competitors' sites and see what meta tags they use. After this research, you are ready to develop your own keyword phrases.

There are several sites designed to assist you in keyword optimization. Here are a few of the free ones:-

The Overture Keyword Tool (http://www.inventory.overture.com ) lists searches related to the keyword you provide. This took is great for expanding your list.

Wordtracker (http://www.wordtracker.com) helps identify keywords that will help your ranking on search engines. Wordtracker also gives you other keyword combinations that you may have overlooked.

The Keyword Tumbler (http://www.keywordtumbler.com) takes your existing keyword phrases and mixes it up to form new phrases and variations that you can include in your meta tags.

A great website is not so great if no one finds it. Remember to research your keywords carefully from the consumer's viewpoint and then sit back and watch the traffic roll in!

12 Article Submission Mistakes That Kill Sales

Get more exposure and publicity for your business by avoiding the success-limiting blunders that many article authors are making.
Want to get more mileage out of the articles you write and submit to newspapers, magazines, trade journals, newsletters and online content sites?

Just avoid the following blunders that many authors are making. I guarantee you will get more business than you're getting now.

1. Weak, vague or boring title.

Why are you reading this article? It MUST be because the title interested you. The more compelling your title is, the more people will read your article. The more targeted and specific your title is, the more qualified prospects will read it.

2. Weak, vague or boring opening.

Okay, my title got you to START reading my article. I bet it was my OPENING that got you to CONTINUE reading! I start out with a challenge, then I give a teaser for my solution, followed by the main BENEFIT you'll get by reading my article. Tell people why they should read your article up front and more of them will.

3. Paragraphs too long.

We live in a hurry-up world and people want you to get to the point quickly. Long-winded paragraphs are hard to read and are often skipped. Make it easy for people to read what you have to say by limiting your paragraphs to five sentences or less and only one point or thought per paragraph.

4. Too many fancy words and/or too much industry jargon.

If you want your article to be interesting and relevant to the maximum number of readers you should avoid using words or jargon that are obscure or only understandable by people in your industry. You never know who might see your article outside your industry. Why make it hard for people to see the value of working with you?

5. Unprofessional or non-existent Web site.

The very first thing I do after reading someone's article is to attempt to visit his or her Web site. If the person doesn't believe enough in him or herself to have an Internet presence, then why should I believe that person is any kind of an expert at all? If the site is poorly designed or looks like it hasn't been updated recently, I dismiss that person as a wannabee. Don't make this mistake! Get a professional Web site NOW!

6. No specific, targeted call-to-action in resource box.

Frankly, most strangers who read your articles really don't care about where you went to school, what degrees or certifications you have, or other "name, rank and serial number" details. All they care about is what's in it for them if they take the next step. You MUST, repeat MUST create a compelling, targeted offer that will motivate qualified prospects to contact you. For example: Not getting the results you want from your articles? Nick Nichols shows you how to create a compelling call-to-action that will drive qualified prospects to your Web site. Get this free report at GetSalesNow.com/im and learn three ways to get more people to respond to your articles. 7. No branded email address.

When an alleged expert lists an ISP email address (you@aol.com, you@msn,com, you@earthlink.com">you@earthlink.com, etc.), that person is missing an important branding opportunity. If the person lists a free address, like Hotmail, Netscape, Yahoo!, etc., I cringe. A branded email address (you@yoursite.com) is a low-cost way to tell people you are serious about your business and proud to publicize it. Why give ISPs free advertising when you can help yourself instead?

8. Misspellings and/or poor grammar.

This should be obvious, yet far too many authors don't bother to spell and grammar-check their work. An article with careless errors implies that you may be careless in your work. It conveys that you are uneducated, and don't care enough about yourself to be the best you can be. Why let that happen when it's so easy to run a spell-check and proofread your articles?

9. Article too long or too short.

Writing articles and submitting them free is a way to position yourself as an expert. You should strive to solve problems your target market has in a way that demonstrates your expertise, yet generates curiosity and motivates qualified prospects to investigate further. I've found a good rule of thumb to follow is that 500-800 words provide a meaningful sample of what you can do without giving away the store.

10. Requiring permission/notification.

When I see an article that is posted at a content site that requires me to ask permission to use it, I usually skip it. I don't have time to compose an email and then wait for a response. I've tried that and incredibly, some people take DAYS to get back to me! If the main purpose of writing and submitting articles is to get them circulated, why make it hard for people to promote you? Give permission in advance and you'll get much more exposure!

11. Too many links.

As one who uses third-party articles for some of my client's HTML ezines, I cringe when I see an article that has more than one or two hotlinks. Why? Because embedding hotlinks into an HTML ezine is much more work for me. I usually pass.

Instead of putting a lot of links into your article, create a resource page at your Web site and refer people to it in your article. This way, people have to go to your site to use the links. What a concept!

12. Hidden resource box links.

Again, as a user of third-party articles, I want to give the author credit and a plug. So make it easy for me! Make your links as short as possible, e.g., GetSalesNow.com/im. And make them visible. Most article sites convert your text to HTML. If you simply say, "click here," without listing the URL, people who copy and paste from the screen (majority) will not capture your URL. No URL = No visits = A wasted effort.
